Paintball For Kids

Is paintball for kids?

Well it certainly can be… paintball is more safe than most of the sports out there, but paintball injuries do occur if paintball match safety requirements are not properly regulated.

The most common paintball injuries are eye related. So make sure that your child knows that a paintball mask should be on at all times.

Paintball Tip- You probably don't want to spend too much money when you first allow your child to play paintball, but don't cheap out on a paintball mask. A cheap paintball mask will fog up your vision, which will cause your child to take his mask off. Paintball is an incredibly safe sport if a player's eyes are protected. IF not…. well, half of all paintball eye injuries result in permanent damage… not to scare anyone out there, because a paintball mask will complete eliminate all paintball danger.

But what about pain….

Is Paintball Too Painful for your child?

I am glad you asked that!

The truth is paintball can be extremely painful. Especially when a paintball lands in close range. The pain from paintball will bother a lot of 20 year olds, let alone any of the young ones.

So is paintball painful? Absolutely!

Is it unbearable? That depends on your pain threshold.

I would strongly recommend that a child waits until he is at least 12 to begin paintballing. That being said, if you have a very tough child, and he adamantly wants to hit the fields, you can give it a go.

Like I said, paintball is very safe, but can be painful. We have seen a few kids cry from being hit by paintballs. And it is not a pretty sight. But we have also seen young kids who are seemingly immune to pain.

Decide whether your kid can handle the pain, and if in doubt, let him play. The worst thing that could happen, is he'll get a little hurt.

Optional Gear Recommendations

Paintball for kids recommends that you have the proper protection for your child. A paintball mask is an absolute must, but are there other pieces of safety equipment that you'll need?

A paintball mask is the only thing you need to be safe, but there is also paintball gear that will minimize pain. And a lot of them are right in your closet.

You should wear clothing that adds some padding protection. Sweaters and sweatpants are two great ways to significantly reduce paintball pain.

Other safety paintball products include an actual paintball vest, paintball pants, paintball gloves, etc. If you don't want to spend a whole lot of money, then you don't really have to worry about these. They will definitely reduce paintball pain, but they will cost you!

Still concerned about your child's safety?

Paintball for kids has already eliminated the possibility of a paintball injury with a paintball mask, but there is also a way to almost completely eliminate paintball pain.

Most paintball guns nowadays are semi-automatic, and these guns are incredibly efficient at propelling paintballs at a high velocity. But there is an alternative, a paintball pump gun will not have nearly as much velocity, and it will be cheaper.

The downside of a paintball pump gun is that it is of inferior quality. You'll have to manually pump it before each shot, and it won't have as much velocity or accuracy. Which is simply the price you have to pay for less pain.

A paintball pump gun will fire about 150 fps, whereas a typical paintball gun will fire at 270 fps.

It's not even close, many feel like pump guns are specifically for paintball for kids. If pain is not an issue, don't bother with these guns, but if your kid to have a slow transition into the game of paintball, a pump paintball gun is for you!
