Airsoft Or Paintball

Is there really a difference between these two extreme sports? Both airsoft and paintball use toy guns to fire paint in shell casings. I apologize if I just made both these extreme sports sound lame. They both have mad street cred. airsoft or paintball is a tough question to answer because the differences are minute. They are both shooter simulations, and if you enjoy shooting the bejesus out of your friends, both of these sports will do. Without a doubt, adrenaline junkies love airsoft and paintball.

It’s unfair to say that one is better than the other, but it is fair to say that one will be the best for you. There are key differences between airsoft vs paintball , and it’s up to you to decide which suits your interests.

Airsofters will tell you that airsoft is cheaper than paintball , and has realistic markers that look awesomer than paintball. Both of these claims are completely fair. Airsoft is considerably less expensive, and the cost difference is quite profound. It costs 10 dollars for about 3000 bb’s. For The same amount of paintballs, you’re looking at about 30-40 bucks. To make matters more extreme, paintballers typically use more paintballs than an airsofter will use bb’s. Which is especially the case in speedball matches.

Airsoft also has the ‘cool factor’ going for it..Airsoft guns appear to be fresh out of a military camp. You can buy all sorts of airsoft rifles that resemble various military weapons. If you want to look badass with an ak-47, then you have that option. On the flipside, some paintballers argue that there are realistic paintball guns too. Military paintball markers have just recently become popular, so expect a major shift in paintball gun designs in the next few decades. Airsofters will not be able to hold on to the ‘cool factor’ for very much longer.

The advantages of paintball are a lot more subtle, but they are significant nonetheless. You won’t be able to find any physical reason to choose paintball. Airsoft guns can fire a lot further than paintball guns, and can fire bb’s at a much faster velocity.

The reason to play paintball is because it’s easier to play paintball.

What do I mean by that?

Paintball is by far the more popular of the two, and consequently, it’s much easier to find a game. Airsofting does not have the fanbase or players to support enough events or venues. And if you do want to choose airsoft, you’re going to have to go woodsball style. It’s unfortunate that airsoft has such a small following, and until more players participate, it’ll be hard to develop many airsoft gatherings.

If you want to play airsoft or paintball seriously, please pick paintball. Airsoft is a letdown for major events. Not because they are lame, only because there are very few legitmate airsoft events. That being said, if you are more of a casual gamer, then airsoft is your sport. It’s hard to find cheap paintball guns, but cheap airsoft markers are the norm. Get some cheap airsoft gear and hit the woods. You won’t regret it.

So, as you can see, it’s really not a question of one sport dominating the other. Airsoft vs paintball is more of a personal dilemma that you must solve for yourself. If you’re serious about getting into shooter simulations, then paintball is your best bet. If you would rather play on a recreational level, then you cannot find a better game than airsoft. The choice is yours!
